Manila, 10 November 1972

No. 27590

Excellency:

I have the honor to refer to our conversations regarding the proposal for a supplement to the agreement on mutual waiver of nonimmigrant visa requirements for nationals of our two countries, concluded by exchange of notes on 4 September 1970, and to confirm the following understandings:

1. The Philippine Government shall not require any visa for holders of "diplomatic" and "service" passports, as well as passports of "career officers of international organizations," issued by the Italian authorities.

2. The Italian Government shall not require any visa for holders of "diplomatic" and "official" passports issued by the Philippine authorities.

3. The above arrangements shall be observed indefinitely until terminated by either Contracting Party upon a written notification to the Other, to take effect 90 days after the receipt of such notification.

If the Italian Government agrees with the above understandings, it is proposed that this note and Your Excellency's reply concurring therein shall constitute an agreement between our two governments, to take effect 90 days after the date of the said reply. This agreement shall be a supplement to the afore-mentioned Exchange of Notes of 4 September 1970.

Accept, Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.

No. 4432

Excellency:

I have the honor to refer to our conversations regarding the proposal for a supplement to the agreement on mutual waiver of nonimmigrant visa regulations for nationals of our two countries, concluded by exchange of notes on September 4, 1970, and to your Note No. 27590 of today's date, confirming the following understandings;

1. The Philippine Government shall not require any visa for holders of "diplomatic" and "service" passports, as well as passports of "career officers of international organizations", issued by the Italian authorities.

2. The Italian Government shall not require any visa for holders of "diplomatic" and "official" passports issued by the Philippine authorities.

3. The above arrangements shall be observed indefinitely until terminated by either Contracting Party upon a written notification to the other to take effect 90 days after the receipt of said notification.

The Italian Government agrees with the above understanding and therefore the Note of Your Excellency and this reply shall constitute an agreement between our two Governments, to take effect 90 days after the date of this reply. This agreement shall be a supplement to the aforementioned Exchange of Notes of 4 September 1970.

Accept, Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.
