[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7931, March 01, 1995 ]

AN ACT CONVERTING THE HINUNANGAN AGRICULTURAL AND VOCATIONAL SCHOOL IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF HINUNANGAN, PROVINCE OF SOUTHERN LEYTE, INTO A NON-CHARTERED COLLEGE, TO BE KNOWN AS THE SOUTHERN LEYTE INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURE AND TECHNOLOGY, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:SECTION 1. The Hinunangan Agricultural and Vocational School in the Municipality of Hinunangan, Province of Southern Leyte, is hereby upgraded to a non-chartered college, to be known as the Southern Leyte Institute of Agriculture and Technology, hereinafter referred to as the Institute.SEC. 2. The Institute, in addition to its present secondary curricular offering, shall offer four-year undergraduate courses in agriculture and such short-term nondegree programs as may be deemed necessary to meet the increasing agricultural manpower requirements of the province, subject to the policies and standards of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).SEC. 3. The rules and regulations necessary for the implementation of this Act shall be promulgated by the CHED.SEC. 4. The amount necessary for the implementation of this Act shall be charged against the current year's appropriations of the Hinunangan Agricultural and Vocational School. Thereafter, such sums as may be necessary for its operation and maintenance shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.SEC. 5. All laws, decrees, orders, rules and regulations which are inconsistent with any provision of this Act are hereby amended accordingly or repealed.SEC. 6. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.Approved,
