[ PRESIDENTIAL DECREE NO. 180, April 27, 1973 ]

AMENDING REPUBLIC ACT NO. 4666 PROHIBITING THE EXPORTATION OF FIBER (BUNTAL) OR FILAMENTS OF THE PLANT COMMONLY KNOWN AS "BURI"

WHEREAS, Republic Act No. 4666 provides for a total ban on the export of fibers (buntal) or filaments of the plant commonly known as ''Buri''; and

WHEREAS, the total prohibition has adversely affected the buri industry resulting in the dislocation of farmers or workers who depend on the industry for livelihood;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution asCommander-in-Chief of all the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and pursuant to Proclamation No. 1081, dated September 21, 1972, and GeneralOrder No. 1, dated September 22, 1972, do hereby amend Section 1 of Republic Act No. 4666 to read as follows:

"SECTION 1. Except upon prior authorization by the President or his duly authorized representative, it shall be unlawful for any person, corporation, firm or association, to export to any foreign country fibers (buntal) or filaments of the plant commonly knownas "Buri" (corypha elata) or seeds or seedlings thereof."
