[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 4422, June 19, 1965 ]

AN ACT GOVERNING THE SALARIES FOR THE POSITIONS OF DISTRICT ENGINEERS AND DIVISION SUPERINTENDENTS NEWLY CREATED OR WHICH MAY HEREAFTER BE CREATED BY LAW, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE SECTION FIVE OF REPUBLIC ACT NUMBERED THIRTY-SEVEN HUNDRED AND NINETEEN.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:SECTION 1. Section five of Republic Act Numbered Thirty-seven hundred and nineteen is hereby amended to read as follows:

"SEC. 5. Subject to the provisions of Section seven, hereof, the incumbent provincial and city officials and their assistants mentioned in this Act, whose appointments have already been confirmed by the Commission on Appointments of the Congress of the Philippines prior to the approval of this Act, shall automatically be entitled to the benefits of this Act, without further need of another appointment and confirmation: Provided, That no incumbent provincial and city officials or any of their assistants shall suffer any diminution in their salaries by virtue of the provisions hereof: Provided, further, That nothing herein provided shall be construed as creating new positions which on the approval of this Act are  authorized by law or ordinance."The salaries for the positions of district engineers and division superintendents newly created or which may hereafter be created by law shall be covered by the salary rates fixed in this Act, provided the rates of each of them shall correspond to the class of the district if considered as a separate province."

SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.Approved, June 19, 1965.
