[ Commonwealth Act No. 504, October 16, 1939 ]
AN ACT CREATING FIFTEEN ADDITIONAL POSITIONS OF JUDGES OF FIRST INSTANCE AND THE NECESSARY SUBORDINATE PERSONNEL, FIXING THEIR RESPECTIVE DUTIES AND SALARIES, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR.
Be it enacted by the National Assembly of the Philippines:Sec. 1. In addition to the existing positions of judges of first instance, there are created fifteen positions of judges of first instance to be appointed as provided by law. Said judges shall be paid a salary of eight thousand four hundred pesos per annum each, and shall have the same rank, powers and privileges enjoyed by and granted to judges of first instance, but their jurisdiction shall be limited to cases arising under the Cadastral Act and the Land Registration Act. They shall render duty in such judicial districts or provinces as may, from time to time, be designated by the Secretary of Justice.Sec. 2. For the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this Act, there are created fifteen positions of stenographer at a salary not exceeding one thousand eight hundred pesos per annum each; fifteen positions of deputy clerk of court at a salary not exceeding one thousand four hundred and forty pesos per annum.each; fifteen positions of interpreter at a salary not exceeding nine hundred and sixty pesos per annum each; thirty positions of clerk at a salary not exceeding seven hundred and twenty pesos per annum each; and fifteen positions of clerk-messenger at a salary not exceeding four hundred and eighty pesos per annum each. These employees shall be appointed by the Secretary of Justice, and for administrative purposes, shall belong to the General Land Registration Office.Sec. 3. There is appropriated out of any funds.in the Philippine Treasury, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of One hundred Fifty Thousand Pesos, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for expenditure during the fiscal year ending June thirty, nineteen hundred and forty, for salaries, perdians, traveling expenses, purchase of materials and equipments, and other necessary sundry expenses.Sec. 4. This Act shall take effect on its approval.Approved, October 16, 1939.
