AN ACT TO AMEND ACT NUMBERED THIRTY-TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN, ENTITLED "AN ACT APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE NECESSARY EXPENSES OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER THIRTY-FIRST, NINETEEN HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Be  it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the  same:SECTION 1. The  sum of  one  hundred thousand pesos appropriated  for the  locust campaign  by Act  Numbered Thirty-two hundred  and seventeen, entitled "An  Act appropriating funds  for the necessary expenses of the  Government of the Philippine  Islands during the fiscal year aiding December thirty-first, nineteen hundred and twenty-five, and  for  other  purposes," shall  be disbursed  by the Director  of Agriculture,  subject  to  the  approval  of the Secretary of Agriculture  and Natural  Resources, for the following purposes,  and for no others, any provision  of said Act  Numbered  Thirty-two  hundred and seventeen  to the contrary notwithstanding:

(a)  For  salaries,  wages, and  travel  and  subsistence expenses,  when necessary, for the purpose of  discovering and exterminating  the locusts  and  their  eggs in  their breeding  places or wherever they may be in any part  of the Philippine Islands: Provided, That the salaries, wages, and travel expenses  shall  be payable  only when the extermination  of locusts  is carried on  in isolated  and  remote places ;(b)  For the purchase of chemicals, apparatus, and other articles, material, and technical  equipment; the purchase of camping equipment for  the men,  such as tentage and kitchen utensils; and(c)  To defray the expense of research work carried  on for the purpose of discovering more efficient and economic means of exterminating the locusts.

SEC. 2. This Act  shall  take effect on its  approval.Approved, October 19, 1925.
