AN ACT TO AMEND THE SECOND PARAGRAPH OF SECTION TWENTY-SEVEN OF ACT NUMBERED TWENTY-FOUR HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FIVE, ENTITLED "AN ACT GRANTING SENOR VICENTE SOTELO Y MATTI, A NATIVE AND RESIDENT OF THE CITY OF MANILA, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS, AND HIS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, A FRANCHISE TO ESTABLISH, CONSTRUCT, EQUIP, MAINTAIN, AND OPERATE A RAILROAD IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE ISLAND OF NEGROS, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS."
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:SECTION 1. The second paragraph of section twenty-seven of Act Numbered Twenty-four hundred and eighty-five, entitled "An Act granting Senor Vicente Sotelo y Matti, a native and resident of the city of Manila, Philippine Islands, and his successors and assigns, a franchise to establish, construct, equip, maintain, and operate a railroad in the southern part of the Island of Negros, Philippine Islands," is hereby amended to read as follows:
"The grantee shall forfeit all or part of said deposit if the work on the railroad has not been begun by December thirty-first, nineteen hundred and nineteen, or if over five years have elapsed after such work is begun, without its being completed. The forfeiture of this bond shall not take place if the completion of the work has been hindered totally or partially by force majeure or fortuitous events."
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its approval.Approved, March 9, 1917.
