AN ACT FIXING THE ANNUAL TONNAGE TAX UPON CASCOES AND OTHER VESSELS NOT DECKED OVER AND NOT PROPELLED BY THEIR OWN STEAM, SAIL, OR OTHER SIMILAR MOTIVE POWER, AND CONSTRUCTED IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS, AND AMENDING SECTION ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY-FIVE OF THE PHILIPPINE CUSTOMS ADMINISTRATIVE ACT.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Commission, that:SECTION 1. All cascoes and other craft not ducked over and not propelled by their own steam, sail, or oilier similar motive power, in the Philippine Islands, for which licenses shall hereafter be obtained or renewed, shall be subject to an annual license fee of one peso, Philippine currency, per gross ton: Provided, That it shall be shown to the collector of customs issuing the licenses that such craft have been constructed in the Philippine Islands.SEC. 2. Nothing in this Act contained shall be construed to authorize any refund of any tonnage tax already paid upon these vessels in accordance with the heretofore existing law.SEC. 3. Anything in section one hundred and thirty-five of the Philippine Customs Administrative Act in conflict with the provisions of this Act is hereby repealed.SEC. 4. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.SEC. 5. This Act shall take effect on its passage.Enacted, December16, 1903.
