PROCLAMATION NO. 59

DECLARING A STATE OF CALAMITY IN THE CITY OF PUERTO
PRINCESA AND THE MUNICIPALITIES OF ROXAS, ARACELI, SAN
VICENTE, TAYTAY, EL NIDO, DUMARAN, CULION, BUSUANGA,
AGUTAYA, ABORIAN AND NARRA IN THE PROVINCE OF PALAWAN

Upon recommendation of the Secretary of National Defense as Chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council, and by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Republic of the Philippines, do hereby declare a state of calamity in the City of Puerto Princesa and the municipalities of Roxas, Araceli, San Vicente, Taytay, El Nido, Dumaran, Culion, Busuanga, Agutaya, Aborian and Narra in the Province of Palawan, which have been badly hit by typhoon “Norming” and caused great damage and destruction to life, properties, infrastructure and agriculture.

All departments and government agencies concerned are hereby directed to implement and execute relief and rehabilitation work in accordance with existing operational plans, directives and orders issued in connection with calamities.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.

Done in the City of Manila, this 16th day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and ninety-eight.
