PROCLAMATION NO. 197

DECLARING FRIDAY, 28 APRIL 2017, AS A SPECIAL (NON-WORKING) DAY IN METRO MANILA

WHEREAS, the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit 2017 is being hosted by the Philippines;

WHEREAS, activities directly connected with the 30th ASEAN Summit, to be attended by various world leaders, will be held in Metro Manila on 26 to 30 April 2017;

WHEREAS, the ASEAN 2017 National Organizing Council — Office of the Director-General for Operations and the Metro Manila Development Authority recommended the suspension of work for the government and private sectors in Metro Manila on 28 April 2017; and

WHEREAS, Memorandum Circular No. 18 (s. 2017) issued by the Office of the President suspended work in Metro Manila for the government and private sectors to ensure the successful hosting of the 30th ASEAN Summit.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SALVADOR C. MEDIALDEA, Executive Secretary, by authority of the President, RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE, do hereby declare Friday, 28 April 2017, as a special (non-working) day in Metro Manila.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
