BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES
PROCLAMATION NO. 110
DECLARING THURSDAY, MAY 27, 1999, AS A SPECIAL DAY IN THE PROVINCE OF CAMARINES SUR AND IN THE CITIES OF NAGA AND IRIGA
WHEREAS, the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, through Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 091, series of 1998, has officially established May 27 as the foundation day of the Province;
WHEREAS, it was on such a date that Governor General Francisco de Sande directed Captain Juan Arce de Sardonil to establish the settlement subsequently called Ciudad de Caceres in what is now the poblacion of Naga City;
WHEREAS, to promote awareness among the present and coming generations of Camarinenses on the historical and cultural significance of all matters pertaining to the birth of the premier province of the Bicol Region which has in its fold 35 municipalities and the cities of Naga and Iriga, every Camarinense should be given the chance to attend/participate in all activities that may be held in connection with the commemoration of the foundation day of the Province of Camarines Sur;
WHEREAS, this foundation day celebration will showcase among the present generation of Camarinenses the rich history of their town.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me in Book I, Chapter 7, Section 27, of the Administrative Code of 1987, do hereby declare Thursday, May 27, 1999, as a special day in the Province of Camarines Sur and in the Cities of Naga and Iriga.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
Done in the City of Manila, this 26th day of May, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and ninety-nine.
