FULL TITLE : AN ACT IMPOSING STIFFER PENALTIES TO PERSONS CAUGHT DRIVING A MOTOR VEHICLE WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL/LIQUOR OR PROHIBITED DRUGS | |
ABSTRACT : "Deadly Driver Reduction Act of 2003." The measure provides stiffer penalties to a person caught driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/liquor or prohibited drugs. The penalties provided in the bill are: > A (1) For the first offense - prision correctional in its minimum period (six months and one day to two years) and a fine of PhP20,00 at the discretion of the court with the suspension of the offender's license for six months after serving the sentence; (2) For the second offense - prision correctional on it medium term (two years and one day to four years) and a fine of PhP40,000 with the suspension of the offender's license for one year after serving the sentence; and (3) For the third offense - prision correctional inn its maximum term (four years and one day to six years) and a fine of PhP80,000 with the permanent suspension of the offender's license after serving the sentence. Abstract
