FULL TITLE : AN ACT TO FURTHER PROMOTE ENTREPRENEURSHI P AND SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES, AMENDING FOR THE PURPPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 6977, AS AMENDED, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE MAGNA CARTA FOR SMALL ENTERPRISES |
ABSTRACT : This bill seeks to further enhance and amend certain provisions of RA 6977 to promote entrepreneurshi p and strengthen assistance programs for Small and Medium Enterproses amidst increasing domestic and global competition. It gives recognition to the role of micro enterprises by granting them and start-up companies special assistance packages to increase their survival rate. To accomplish these objectives, the bill endeavors to provide for the active participation of the SMED Council in the delivery of assistance and services to micro, small and medium enteprises or MSMEs.> Some major revisions being introduced in this bill are: (1) The renaming of the Council as the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development (MSMED) Council; a broaderr, more influential Council with the inclusion of additional members from the Executive, the Legislature and the SME and the private sector into the Council; (2) Modifications on the charter of the Small Business Guarantee and Finance Corporation; an |
