FULL TITLE : AN ACT TO MANDATE BARANGAY MICRO BUSINESS ENTERPRISES (BMBEs) TO IMPLEMENT THE MINIMUM WAGE LAW, AMENDING FOR THE PURPOSE REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9178, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS 'AN ACT TO PROMOTE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF BARANGAY MICRO BUSINESS ENTERPRISES (BMBEs), PROVIDING INCENTIVES AND BENEFITS THEREFOR, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES'
SHORT TITLE : Mandates Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBEs) to Implement the Minimum Wage Law
ABSTRACT : Section 8 of RA 9178 [Barangay Micro business Enterprises (BMBEs) Act of 2002] exempt all BMBEs from the coverage of the Minimum Wage Law. Such section is contrary to the constitutional provision that ensures the right of labor to a decent living. This bill seeks to mandate the BMBEs to implement the Minimum Wage Law. It simply reiterates the workers'guarantee to minimum wage to ensure that BNBE workers can economically survive just like the rest of the workers who are receiving the mandated minimum wage.
