House Bill/Resolution NO. HB00334
FULL TITLE : AN ACT REPEALING ARTICLES 333 AND 334 AND AMENDING ARTICLE 344 OF ACT 3815, AS AMENDED, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE REVISED PENAL CODE, AND DEFINING THE CRIME OF MARITAL INFIDELITY
ABSTRACT : Articles 333 and 334 of the Revised Penal Code penalizes adultery and concubinage, respectively. Under the Code, the wife is meted a heavier penalty for a single act of infidelity. There is thus a perceived disparity in the treatment of husbands, on the one hand, and wives, on the other, insofar as the imposable penalty is concerned. This bill provides for a definition to "marital infidelity" and to provide the penalty for the commission thereof. It seeks to correct the seeming disparity in the treatment of husband and wives.
